Region 3 Teacher of the Year Award Qualifications
The Correctional Education Association and its members admires and respects the role the teacher has in a correctional education setting.
Each year the CEA state chapters will select a CEA Teacher of the Year at their annual state conference. Once the CEA state chapter Teacher of the Year is selected, that teacher will go on to compete regionally.One CEA Regional Teacher of the Year will be selected from each of the 8 regions. CEA Region 3 selects the CEA Region 3 Teacher of the Year from their members in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
The eight CEA Regional Teachers of the Year will be awarded an all-expense paid trip to the CEA International Conference and Training Event and will be recognized at the CEA International Awards Ceremony and the Teacher of the Year Gala Dinner and Dance.
To be considered for the CEA Region 3 Teacher of the Year:
Must be a CEA Member for two years
Must be a Teacher working in a correctional environment- Youth or Adult in Federal, State, County facilities
Must be present in the classroom teaching at least 51% of the school year
The CEA Region3 Teachers of the Year will be interviewed by a panel of correctional educators and each candidate should explain what their contribution is to correctional education. All candidates are encouraged to bring a portfolio and provide a short presentation of their education program.
